Ubud

Bali's cultural heart — rice terraces, river valleys, temples and a town that's equal parts art, yoga and slow warung lunches. Here's how we'd spend your time, and the tours we run from here.

Why Ubud

The island's creative, green heart.

If Bali has a soul, many would point to Ubud. Set in the cool hills an hour or so above the beaches, it's wrapped in rice terraces and river gorges, with a centuries-old culture of temples, dance and craft that's still very much alive.

It's where you'll find the famous terraces and water temples, but also quiet villages, riverside cafés and morning markets. We base many of our day tours here — it's the perfect launch point for the Batur sunrise, the waterfalls and the East Bali icons.

Things to do

What to do in & around Ubud.

Beyond our tours — the spots we'd send a friend to. We can fold any of these into a private day.

Tegallalang Rice Terraces

Bali's most photographed terraces — best in the soft early-morning light.

Sacred Monkey Forest

A leafy temple sanctuary right in the middle of town — go early and mind your sunglasses.

Tirta Empul Temple

Join the melukat purification ritual at the holy spring — we'll show you how.

Art Market & Palace

Crafts, textiles and the royal palace in the heart of town — good for a slow afternoon.

Campuhan Ridge Walk

An easy green ridge stroll above the valley — gorgeous (and cool) at sunrise.

Tegenungan Waterfall

A powerful, easy-to-reach fall just south of town — swim early before the crowds.

Icons are placeholders — real photos in the build.

Local tips

Good to know before you go.

Best time to visit

Dry season (Apr–Oct) brings clear skies; the terraces are greenest just after the rains.

Getting around

The centre is walkable; for temples and terraces a private driver is easiest — we can arrange one.

Where to stay

Central Ubud for cafés and buzz; the rice-field edges (Penestanan, Nyuh Kuning) for calm.

Good to know

Temples need a sarong (we bring them), carry small cash, and start early to beat heat and crowds.
