Overview

The Bali sunrise everyone photographs — done properly.

We collect you from your hotel around 2am (yes, early), drive up to Kintamani, and start the climb in the dark with head-torches and a guide who has summited Batur hundreds of times. The pace is relaxed — no rushing, no big convoy.

You reach the top before the sky turns, settle in with hot coffee and eggs warmed in the volcanic steam, and watch the sun come up over Lake Batur with Mount Agung beyond. The walk down is easy and bright, with time for photos and, if you like, a soak in natural hot springs.

Good to ask

Mount Batur — your questions

How hard is the hike?
Moderate — about 2 hours uphill on a rocky path, and we go at your pace with regular breaks. If you walk fairly regularly, you'll be absolutely fine. No climbing experience needed.
What time is pickup?
Usually around 2:00am from south Bali or Ubud, so we reach the trailhead and summit before sunrise. We confirm the exact time on WhatsApp the evening before.
Is it suitable for children?
Children 8+ who are used to walking usually love it. For younger kids, message us — a sunrise jeep tour can be a gentler alternative with the same view.
What if it's cloudy or raining?
We watch the forecast and will reschedule for free if the summit is clouded in. In dry season (April–October) sunrises are usually clear.
Do we need experience or gear?
None at all. Bring closed shoes and a light jacket (it's cool at the top) — we provide head-torches, your guide and breakfast.
How do we pay?
No prepayment — you reserve with a message and pay cash or transfer on the day. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before.
